Ep. 180 – A Golden age and Holycross delight
Golden Kilfeacle are county champions, Knockavilla Kickhams pushed them to the wire, and the Intermediate grade delivered a thriller. In Episode 180 of The Premier View Podcast, we break down a dramatic final that finished 3-19 to 2-21, one point in it, and decided by fine margins in the closing plays. We revisit the turning point, Golden’s two quick goals early in the second half that flipped momentum and forced Knockavilla to chase. We also look at the last chance for parity, a late snapshot that tailed wide, and why both sides can take pride from a contest that showcased everything good about Tipp club hurling.
Jack Leamy shouldered the spotlight for Golden, he finished with 1-03 from play and 1-09 overall, and his presence freed team-mates to flourish. We highlight the supporting cast who kept the scoreboard moving across the campaign, and how Golden spread the load when it mattered. Knockavilla’s effort gets equal credit, they tore into the game from the throw-in, stayed with it when Golden looked ready to pull away, and were still creating the right shot at the end. We discuss what this performance says about their 2026 ceiling, and why momentum and organisation decide Intermediate more than star power.
Beyond the final, we touch on Holycross Ballycahill’s Junior A county title win over Kiladangan, 2-21 to 2-12, and what promotion means for their 2026 Intermediate prospects. There is chat on refereeing standards across county final weekend, including the much-debated square ball call elsewhere, and why one error should not overshadow strong performances in the middle. We also scan the inter-county horizon, retirements and panel refresh in Limerick, and what that kind of churn might look like for Tipperary as Liam Cahill evaluates form. Finally, we tip our caps to the Shinty series, note a couple of big Tipp displays, and wish the best to those carrying knocks.
It was a fantastic championship, fierce, honest, and full of storylines. Golden climb to Premier Intermediate in 2026 with confidence, Knockavilla leave with belief, and the grade remains as competitive as ever. Hit play for the full review, the numbers behind the key moments, and what it all means for next year.
