The round robin has concluded. 3 Teams are finished for the year while 13 have at least one more game. The next weekend of hurling on September 20/21 sees the relegation semi-finals & the one preliminary Quarter-final taking place.

Shannon Rovers, as expected, needed to use their prelim and drew Arravale Rovers. Arravale finished second to Borrisokane and performed very admirably throughout the campaign. A game that is very hard to call and it wouldn’t surprise us if Extra Time is needed on the day. They last met in Round 1 of the 2024 championship with Shannon Rovers winning 0-23 to 0-21 on that day in Newport. Same venue in 2025 with a 1.30pm throw in on the 21st.
The relegation draw pits surprise inclusion Skeheenarinky against fellow South strugglers Ballybacon/Grange in Cahir, also on Sunday at 1.30pm while Newport face Drom & Inch on Saturday 20th in Dolla at 4pm.
16. Drom/Inch – Scoring is a struggle for the mid side. 3-08 in any game is a poor showing and they have the worst attack in this grade only managing 0-15 a game, Really struggling at the grade in 2025. Hard to see any kick in them against Newport. A relegation final beckons. No Change
15. Ballybacon/Grange – As above scoring is an issue. Brendan Cummins with 1-05 in their round 3 defeat to Kilsheelan.10 Scorers for them in the first 3 Rounds with Oisin Ryan their top scorer with 0-19 so far, Will relish a pop at near neighbours Skeheen in a relegation battle however. No Change
14. Newport – A good round 3 win over Borrisokane will give them confidence. How strong or interested Borrisokane were is another conversation, but Newport will take a lot from it. Should have too much for Drom and draw a line under the year. No Change
13. Skeheenarinky – After the first two rounds this isn’t a position you would’ve foreseen for Skeheen. Beat Moyle Rovers comprehensively and put Cappawhite to the pin of their collar in round 2. Both now in Quarter-finals. Came a cropper to a ravenous Portroe side though. Will need to pick it up huge for the relegation battle. Skeheen be wary, Ballybacon had a habit of winning the game they need to every year. Down 5
12. Portroe – Saved their best performance for Round 3. Under pressure and delivered. They’ll file it under ‘one to forget’ and move on. Need to some new bodies to give a lift in 2026. They can give thanks to John Sheedy also with 3-24 scored in their campaign. Down 1

11. Carrick Davins – Got the win they needed in Round 1. Going on that they under-performed in 2 & 3 but maybe they reverted to where we see them. Mikey Whelan’s absence cannot be under estimated through out the campaign. Will be delighted to avoid a relegation battle which was goal no.1 for the Year. Statistically the worst defence in the competition which will need to addressed before the 2026 campaign.
10. Clonoulty/Rossmore – A case of what could have been for the West side. Had Ballingarry on the ropes and sweating. They needed the win and in the end lost out by the minimum. Lost a lot of players to the Senior side which makes things hard. Will be happy to be enjoying a 3rd year at the grade in 2026.
9. Arravale Rovers – No Change for the West side despite a resounding victory in round 3. Drawn in the dreaded prelim against North champions Shannon Rovers. Lost to them by 2 in 2024. The addition of the Ryans, David & Adam is a big plus. A big weekend incoming for the Tipp town side. No Change
8. Shannon Rovers – After the big loss to Kilsheelan in round 1 probably knew a prelim was needed. Did decently enough against Golden in Round 3 but were never really going to win. Will relish a crack at Arravale Rovers and have confidence from the knockout stages in 2025. Could be a big mover in our next addition. Down 2

7. Moyle Rovers – Got an unexpected and cracking draw from Cappawhite in Bansha on Sunday. Were nine down and clawed back into the game. Will take great confidence and have a free hit at whoever they meet in the Quarters. When you get promoted staying the grade is the goal, the Monroe side have gone one better and got into the knockouts. We had them at 16 in our first Power Ranking of the Year, Can they go higher next time out? Up 4
6. Ballingarry – Made the quarters by the skin of their teeth. But ominously Dylan Walsh returned and scored the winner. Momentum is huge in sport and it’s with the South side. 12 Scorers so far in the Championship, they’ll be bouncing into a Quarter. Up 1
5. Kilsheelan/Kilcash – Had an expected victory in Round 3 over Ballybacon. Jamie Roche with 4-04 from play will take watching, Will fancy any of Kickhams, Borrisokane & Cappawhite in a quarter-final. Don’t be surprised if they are on the move on September 29th. No Change
4. Cappawhite – Topped the group but can’t be happy with how things are going. Are they on the slide ? Nobody saw the draw with 2025 Junior champions Moyle Rovers. Surrendered a lead again. But the West Champions have 3 weeks to re-group and no doubt will be looking forward to the quarter-finals. No Change
3. Borrisokane – Yes it was a dead rubber game in Round 3 with their business already done. But momentum and keeping ticking over is valued in these competitions. Won’t be happy with the concession of four goals. No Change
2. Knockavilla Kickhams – Got their business done. Scored 24 points. The concession of 3 goals will be a worry but in truth were always in control. No Change
1. Golden/Kilfeacle – 3/3 in the round robin for the favourites. Highest scorers and were never really troubled throughout. Have got over the West final defeat and powered into the Quarters. The people’s favourites for the title. Currivan, Heffernan & Byrnes are really backing up Leamy. Hard to see them bet. No Change
