Junior B Hurling Year.
Cappawhite were crowned Junior B Hurling champions at the 2nd time of asking with a four point victory over North Champions Silvermines in the final. The Tim Maher cup will reside in the West of the County for the first time since 2021, when Clonoulty/Rossmore took home the honours. Following victory over near neighbours Eire Óg Annacarty, after extra time, in the West final, Cappawhite dispatched St. Patricks Drangan & Newport on their way to the final. Silvermines beat Holycross/Ballycahill & Cahir on their way to the final.
Divisional honours went to Cahir(South), Silvermines(Mid), Cappawhite(West) and a first ever title for Thurles Gaels in the mid. A momentous occasion for the Thurles club and huge congratulations to them. Thurles Gaels were the only ‘First’ team to make it to the knockout stages in 2024 while beaten Quarter-finalists Holycross were a ‘third’ team. Such is the competitiveness of the grade that Extra time was required in three of the four Divisional Finals. ( A junior B’s nightmare)

The PremierView Podcast Junior B Hurling Team of the Year.
- Darragh Barry (Cappawhite) – The Winners didn’t concede a goal in the County knockout stages. Barry kept his house in order and marshaled his defence well, barking orders at none other than an All-Ireland winner in front of him.
- Keelan Looby (Cahir) – The Cahir man was teak tough in defence and was instrumental in keeping the Cahir ship afloat. Encouraging for Cahir to feature at the latter end with their second string.
- Thomas Costello (Cappawhite) – A man of the match contender in the Final. Costello showed in 2024, all the signs of not slowing down. A Week to remember with another All-Ireland medal (Masters) followed by a County Final medal for his club.
- Jordan Fahey (Thurles Gaels) – A remarkable year for the Gaels. A first ever adult title is a huge achievement for them. Fahey was in contention for man of the match in the Mid Final with a brilliant display at the back.
- Eoin Seymour (Silvermines) – We had to fit the ‘mines six in somewhere. Struggled a bit in the County Final but had stood up huge for the North men throughout the campaign.
- Ciarán Ryan (Cappawhite) – The spine of the Cappa’ defence was the rock that wouldn’t budge. No goal conceded when it mattered. Ryan drove the West Champions forward at every opportunity.
- Cian O’Carroll (Cappawhite) – The big man turned up when the Champions needed him most. Best player on the field in the hard fought win over Newport and contributed handsomely in the Final too.
- Tom Delaney (Cahir) – We had to find a place for Tom. Great to see him back in a Cahir jersey. Scored goals galore throughout and won’t be playing Junior ‘B’ in 2025.
- Martin Carey (Newport) – Carey is a workhorse. Was immense for Tulach Sheasta in the competition. A titanic battle with Paddy Julian in the Semi-final.
- Daniel Keogh (Silvermines) – Stylish wing-forward who foraged away all year. Scored a couple of excellent points throughout and tried hardest to stem the tide in the Final
- Brian Tobin (Newport) – a four point salvo in the semi-final as he raced at the Cappawhite defence. Plays very deep but is very effective. Big career ahead for the Young Man.
- Morgan Lanigan (Thurles Gaels) – A man of the match performance for the lifelong Gaels man. A first ever title for the Club. A tremendous performance.
- Patrick Barry (Cappawhite) – Comes away with two or three points most days. A very accomplished player. At his ease most days, at this level.
- Anthony Barry (Cappawhite) – Four goals in one game, the last minute leveler in the West final and two early green flags in a County Final. Another of the young Cappawhite batch with so much to offer.
- Ronan Cuneen (Silvermines) – Scorer in Chief for the ‘Mines all year. If the north men had won the final it was this man’s performance which was gonna clinch it for them. Virtually unremarkable in Kilcommon.
