Shane Ryan Clonmel Commercials, Minor Football Player of the Year as voted by the listeners of the Premierview Podcast.
After an absolute massive Poll, with over 14,500 individual votes cast, Shane deservedly came out on top with 6714 votes and 50.30% of the total Poll.
Son of long serving former Tipperary goalkeeper Philly, Shane was Commercial’s most consistent player all through the u17 championship. A great leader and organiser. Shane has everything you need to be a modern goalkeeper, Pinpoint kick outs, comfortable on the ball in play and a great reader of the play.
Shane has been seen as a talent in Tipperary football from a young age with him being part of the Tipperary football panel since under 14 and staying there the whole time as he was selected for the 2021 Tipperary minor football panel.
Shane had a stellar year this year proving he could pull off acrobatic saves, and being Clonmel’s first line of attack with distribution most keepers at any level dream of, but the highlight of Shane’s year came in the under 19’s final although Clonmel didn’t manage to win the final.
Shane done all he could for Commercials making an incredible double save at the first minute of the match and then under constant pressure absolutely throwing his body on the line to make sure the ball didn’t pass him at any point during the game.
Eligible to play adult football in 2022, it would be no surprise see Shane getting some time in the same Commercials senior Jersey his father wore for over 20 years with great distinction.
