16. Skeheenarinky

To give a walkover in adult hurling should be automatic relegation. There’s no forgiving it. They play Upperchurch in their Relegation Semi-Final.

15. Upperchurch/Drombane

They move off the bottom but not because of anything they have done themselves. Pretty poor against Moneygall in a dead rubber but, at least they turned up. Conceding a total of 13-55 has them with the worst defensive record in the Intermediate Championship. A Glimmer of Hope for the Mid Men ?.They are joint Second in the Goal Scoring Chart with 6 goals scored. Pat Shortt with 2-05 so far and TJ Butler 2-14,vital to their survival chances.

14. Arravale Rovers

Showed little improvement year on year. Can’t seem to get the best out of Johnny Ryan. New Arrival, Orrin Jones with 1-03 and Debutante Sean O’Mahony with 0-29 are huge additions and if they can survive and bring in their two County Minors, David and Adam Ryan and bed in more of their fine u19 Team, You’d hope to see something more in 2025,But firstly they have to negotiate a sticky Relegation Semi Final. Not an easy task.

13. Ballybacon/Grange

The only team of the bottom four with a win. That Win V Cappawhite seems a long way away now though. A match-up with Arravale Rovers will be interesting and they are well versed in Relegation Great Escapes. Brendan Cummins with 1-08 still knocking over the points for them. Resilient.

12. Clonoulty/Rossmore

A slicker Cappawhite got the better of them in Round 3 and only for a late point or two could’ve found themselves in the relegation battle. Not a bad start to their Intermediate life though and keeping their status was the goal, You’d imagine. Paudie White with 0-20, their top scorer for the Year.

11. Carrick Davins

Getting closer all the time ?. Went out last year with three points, Went out this year on two. Pa Harris 3-07 was excellent all Year as was Mikey Whelan with 1-13, but they need help to progress next year. Need a scalp of note for confidence too, We feel.

10. Kilsheelan/Kilcash

A disappointing 2024 for last years Intermediate Semi-Finalists. It goes to show that you need a full line up all the time, in this grade. Travel, Injuries and Suspensions harmed their progress. Joint 6th Best Attack with 5-48, 4-52 conceded for the Year. Unfulfilled Potential.

9. Drom-Inch

What might have been. Reduced to 14 men early v Arravale Rovers. Their 2 point winning margin wasn’t enough to get them into Second place. Have the preliminary Quarter Final this weekend but Borrisokane won’t be easy. Aidan O’Meara with 1-12 from play still in great form for them. Borrisokane Backs Be Warned.

8. Cappawhite

Made a fool of Us the last day. Got the win and by the margin needed to claim second place. Conor Martin made his first appearance of the Year too. Willie Barry with 0-12 doing the business for them. Only 3-46 scored though so far, which has them in 9th place, well off the pace of the other 8 teams remaining in the Championship.

7. Knockavilla Kickhams

The margin was closer than 2023 but Kickhams still did enough, Second best attack in the Competition with 6-57 scored or an average of 0-25 per game. Eoin Horgan 0-04, is adding a scoring touch for them from the goals while Stephen Browne with 0-11 in the last 2 games, seems to have upped his game.

6. Borrisokane

Had an excellent victory over Kilsheelan to get 2nd place and knock them out. Oisin Larkin is serious form. Is there anyone to mark him at the moment ?.Conor Ryan another prong of their attack with 1-10 from Play.

5. Portroe

The pick of the Second seeds in the Quarter-Finals. Will be disappointed to lose to Shannon Rovers, in Injury Time. Sam Madden 0-10, in good form for them.2-68 scored, John Sheedy with 0-35 of it. Last Years Relegated Premier Intermediate Side now Lurking with Intent.

4. Shannon Rovers

The Cinderella story continues up on Lough Derg. Eamonn Hough with 3-12 from play, the hero again with an injury time goal v Portroe, that cemented top spot. A complete reversal of their Intermediate Group Travails last Year. Only conceding 0-19 a game too.

3. Golden/Kilfeacle

Expected win over Ballybacon. 12 points to spare. A bit ropey in the 1st half but the result was never in doubt. Jack Leamy 1-33 and Ben Currivan 0-09, in top form again. Much made of their Baby Faced Killer Front 6 Forward Line, Not so Much about their backs, Best Defensive Unit across all 3 Grades in the County at the Minute, 0-14.33 a game being Conceded.

2. Ballingarry

Not their fault they didn’t get a Round 3 game due to the Skeheenarinky concession. Ian Ivors being suspended, while unfortunate and wrong, is a huge loss for their Quarter-Final. You can expect that gross injustice to fuel their fire.

1. Moneygall

Obliterated Upperchurch in Round 3. It wasn’t even a contest. We could bore You with a litany of Moneygall Stats but will give you just one stark one. Check out the Table below. Currently scoring more than 0-10 a Game than Kickhams in Second Place. Awesome at the Minute.

16. Sean Treacys

Starting well in games but fading badly. Sean Ryan is back from a thumb injury to add some stability. A couple of players gone to Dubai but, you’d imagine they’ll be back for a relegation tilt especially should they find themselves in the dreaded Relegation Final . Didn’t really raise any sort of a gallop in the 2024 County Championship though. Paddy Carey their main scoring threat with 0-21.Averaging 0-18 over the 3 Rounds, Joint Bottom on the Club Scoring Stats and with only 9 of their players scoring so far in the Championship, also joint lowest. You’d wonder where their scores are going to come from in their Relegation Semi-Final dog fight v the ‘mines.

15. Newport

We found it hard to separate them from Treacy’s. They did well v Boherlahan losing out by a goal,1-16 to 0-16. Cian Flanagan (0-08 from play so far) is a scoring threat from wing back. Will probably lean on the vastly experienced Conor O’Mahony again to get them out of trouble V Moyne in their Relegation Semi-Final. Colin Floyd and Pa Ryan their 2 main scoring threats, Floyd with 1-11,Ryan with 1-13.

14. Moyne/Templetouhy

Looked a lot livelier in the final two games and will be p*ssed they didn’t get something from the Gortnahoe game, going down by a point, 0-21 to 0-20.10 scorers from play so far, Gearoid O’Connor, 0-36 in total 0-10 from play, seems to back on song for them.

13. Silvermines

The only one of the bottom four with a victory, pipping a depleted Swan in Round 3,1-22 to 0-23. Re-structured their team with Jason Forde (0-27) heading back to his college position in the back line and Conor McKelvey (1-06 from Play, 0-08 off Frees) becoming the fulcrum of their attack.

12. Killenaule

We’re sick of talking them up. 5-57 Scored in the Premier Intermediate Championship,4th best attack of the 16 teams,8th best defence and their Year is done. Great team on paper. Only won one half of hurling from 6 in the Premier Intermediate County Championship and that was the 2nd half v Treacy’s. A Long Winter Awaits.

11. Ballina

Their first round win over the ‘mines keeps them out of trouble. Were competitive for periods against the Swan but totally outclassed by Upperchurch. Injuries certainly curtailed their progress. 12 players contributed to their Final Tally of 3-50,Mikey Breen with 0-11,Jack Collins 0-14 and David Kelly with 2-05 from play, their standout performers.

10. Clonakenny

The Mid side haven’t had a good season in comparison to 2023, No Mid Premier Intermediate title and only one win over Newport in the county championship. Joint 8th in the scoring stats, Joint 6th in the defensive stats. Cian O’Dwyer had a stand out campaign though, 2-22 in Total, 2-08 from Play.

9. Boherlahan/Dualla

A very good first year at the level. A tough group with Clonakenny and Sars and they still qualified. Cashel may be a step too far in the Preliminary Quarter Final, but overall will be happy with the way they’ve handled themselves. In Bonus Territory from here on in, Tossy Ryan with a total of 0-22 and Mark Downey with 3-02 from play, leading the way for the 2023 Intermediate Champions.

8. Cashel King Cormacs

Not exactly pulling up trees, but still there due to their West Final win. An injury time goal for Gortnahoe is why they’re in this position. 13 Scorers and Devon Ryan showing his potential with a 2-20 Tally. If they come through the preliminary Quarter Final, there won’t be many queueing up to meet them. Dark Horses.

7. Burgess

The Stephen show seems to have come to a grinding halt ? or is it, Murray with 1-28,1-07 from Play and Kirwan also with 1-07 from Play. Those two will need to be on top form in the Quarters. Johnny Mulqueen (1-03 from play in the first 2 Rounds) still out for the next Round, though is a loss to the back line both in terms of what he brings to their defence and attack.

6. Gortnahoe/Glengoole

Scraped over Moyne in Round 3 winning 0-21 to 0-20. They’re a scrappy side though winning 2 games by one point and losing by one point. Keane Hayes (2-28 in total,2-10 from Play) is a real Star for them. Scoring 0-22.33 per game and conceding 0-22,the narrowest gap across all 3 Championship Grades.

5. Carrick Swan

Yes, they were qualified but losing to Silvermines sees them drop down the rankings. Is putting out the Junior’s any worse than giving a walkover?.16 of their Players have scored from Play, the highest of all 16 Teams in the Premier Intermediate Grade. Callum Lanigan with 1-13 Aaron Dunne with 1-10 and Aaron O’Halloran with 0-08 leading the Way.

4. St. Marys

Another to top their Group and with a bit to spare. Burgess and Killenaule were in the conversation to win it out at the start but the Clonmel side have usurped them. Overturned a 10 point South loss to win by 5 V Killenaule in Round 3 and cement their no. 1 spot in Group 4.Best Defence in the Competition, tying opponents down to an average of 0-15 per game.3-53 scored by 12 of their players. Peter McGarry storming into form with 0-11 from play, Sean Kennedy steady on the frees 0-22 in total, 0-17 from placed balls

3. Thurles Sarsfields

Topped Group 3 with ease,100% Record. Pa Bourke in good form along with Keith Loughnane, 1-07 from Play and Rory Purcell, 0-10 from Play. Mickey Cahill anchoring them. Kevin Bracken a really good keeper and only a matter of time before he steps up to their Senior Squad. Top Scorers in this grade with 2-70.Last Years Beaten Finalists clicking through the gears.

2. Eire Óg Annacarty

The West side topped their group and in doing so sent Cashel to the preliminary’s . Can they keep this form up? They will, if they stop leaking goals, 6-51 Conceded so far, 5th Worst Defence. 2-68 scored at the other end,13 different scorers, Darragh Kelly with 1-08 from play catching the eye.

1. Upperchurch/Drombane

The Mid side return to the no. 1 spot. They dismantled Ballina in Round 3,4-19 to 0-15 . They are the bookies favourites. They will be disappointed, not to emerge as Group Winners from Group 1 with Carrick Swan pipping them to the top spot, Could a more fraught route to a Final now be their lot ?.Pat Ryan with 3-04 from Play in very dangerous form.

16. Roscrea

Didn’t raise a gallop in their 2-28 to 1-14 Round 3 loss to Thurles Sarsfields . They were already in this mess after Round 2 but We hoped to see something to light a fire. It wasn’t there. Will struggle unless they can pull it together v Templederry in their Relegation Semi Final. They are joint second on the number of Players in the Club that have scored chart with 14 Roscrea players troubling the scoretakers, the major issue for them currently, outside of Luke Cashin with 1-14 in total and 0-05 from play, is the lack of anyone else in the Red and White chipping in with a decent from play tally.

15. Templederry

Still conceding goals which could be their downfall, 13 in total in 3 games.13-80 conceded or 39.66 points per game in the 3 games of the Round Robin. Led briefly in the 2nd half of Round 3 v Clonoulty and an unlikely victory looked to be on the cards. They are 9th out of the 16 Senior Teams on our attacking stats though, which is a bonus in a relegation dogfight. Sean Ryan with 3-12, Colm Murray with 0-14 and Padraig Hogan with 1-09 all doing their part. Defensive Plan for the next Day Out Needed.

14. Lorrha/Dorrha

Move off the bottom with a resounding win over Holycross, that very nearly secured their status if Nenagh had managed to Draw or Win V Loughmore. Bonnar Maher with a goal close to Full Time in Dolla and Eoin McIntyre (4-04 From Play Total) came up trumps but, will need to do it all again and more V Borris-ileigh in their relegation Semi Final. Wafer thin Squad. Ken Hogan needs to work the oracle just the once more this Year to give the 2023 Seamus O’Riain Champions, another Year in the Dan Breen next Year. Only 9 Lorrha Players have scored, the lowest of all 16 Dan Breen 20204 Teams.

13. Borrisoleigh

A Championship that started so brightly with a win over rivals Toome ends in a relegation battle. Will be favourites to get it done V Lorrha in their Semi-Final but, there’s going to be a bit of soul searching in Borris over the winter. Surprisingly 16th out of 16 Senior Club attacks, the Free taking Form of Eddie Ryan will be vital the next day out, 1-25 from placed balls, 0-04 from play.

12. Holycross/Ballycahill

Big drop for the Cross boys. Had it in their own hands and fluffed their lines. Possibly under-estimated the wounded animal that was Lorrha but that’s no excuse. You can’t switch off at this level. That said,they can point to a stream of underage talent starting to filter through, One Example being the 0-11 from play in their campaign scored by young Robbie Ryan, Another being the form of Darragh Woods 2-21 in Total,2-07 of it from Play.

11. Drom-Inch

Power up the charts courtesy of a late charge against Borrisoleigh. Seamie Callanan bailed them out with Podge Campion to the fore also. Too little too late though, but avoided the relegation mire which could so easily have been their fate, A bit like Holycross behind them, there is young scoring Calvary on the way to lessen their dependence on the 2019 All Ireland Winning Captain who ran up a very creditable 1-27 this year.

10. Mullinahone

Round 3 loss to Moycarkey. Played the majority of the game with 14 following a red. Who knows what might have happened. Preserved their Senior status early but how much longer will Kelly & Curran stay going at this level ?. Michael Dunne with 0-19 and the evergreen Sean Curran with 0-12, their 2 standout Forwards.

9. Clonoulty/Rossmore

Got the expected Round 3 win over Templederry, albeit with a scare. Down 3 points in the second half they then scored 1-7 without reply. Their first round draw v Kiladangan haunts their winter already. Our Attack Table which has them in 4th and with the highest number of green flags raised, won’t help their mood either. No West Championship, hence no Preliminary Quarter Final for them is hardly fair considering, it’s not their fault. Stephen Ferncombe with 2-22 and Cathal Bourke lethal from play with 1-10 tally.

8. Nenagh Eire Óg

Scraped into the Quarters on score difference. Huge win over Lorrha in Round 2,padding the scoring stats for them. Had Loughmore on the rack in Round 3 but couldn’t finish the job. 2 Championship Wins all Year and both V Lorrha is not the sort of form to be facing into Sars in a Quarter Final, then again, Who knows which Nenagh will turn up!!!!. Jake Morris has 5-15 scored, 5-10 of it from play, Shoulder to the Wheel next day for the 13 other lads who have scored this Year.

7. JK Brackens

Drop in the rankings following a heavy loss to Kiladangan. The caveat being it happened with Paddy Cadell and Cathal Scully on the bench. Would they have made up the 20 points gap though ?.Toomevara up next for the Templemore men in a Quarter Final, Can they re-discover their Round 1 and 2 form?. 8-69 is fair going by any standards especially when you consider only 10 Players have ran up that tally. Jamie Ormond with 1-17 from Play, Lyndon Fairbrother 3-04 from Play.2 Men on a Hot Streak.

6. Moycarkey/Borris

Eddie Brennan’s side are moving nicely. Set a goal of a quarter-final spot and now have their first Senior Championship Knock out Game in over 30 Years. Will have learned a lot from the Thurles game. Bonus territory but not beyond them to cause a surprise V Kiladangan, if they can keep it tight . Max Hackett now starting to deliver on his early Years promise with 3-05 from Play, The Shelly Boys with 4-16 between them Kyle with 2-12,Rhys between the sticks, just the 2-04.

5. Kilruane MacDonaghs

Lost in Round 3 to a Drom side staring relegation in the face, 2-19 to 0-27. Willie Cleary is chief score getter,0 -13 V Drom to bring his tally so far to 0-34,Cian D’arcy with 2-05 from Play. The 2022 County Champions are starting to come good. Will be a handful in the Quarters v Loughmore. Dark Horses.

4. Toomevara

A Round 3 win over Kilruane moves them back up the charts. A lot of teams would like to have seen the 2023 Semi Finalists gone. Darragh McCarthy Joint Top Scorer after the first 3 Rounds with 1-34. A Scoring Prodigy.

3. Thurles Sarsfields

Could be No. 1 or 2, only for the Mid and North Champions current form. Moving nicely. Another with max points from the Round Robin. Aidan McCormack (0-33, 0-13 from Play), Conor Stakelum (1-10 from Play) and a certain R.Maher in great form. 15 of their Players have scored, the most of any Dan Breen outfit, highlighting as if needed, the depth of talent in that Town

2. Loughmore/Castleiney

Just the 3 wins from 3 for the Mid Champions. Had a cracking win in Round 3 over Nenagh, although not without a late scare. Loughmore don’t appear on either our Top 10 Scorer or From Play Charts, In Typical Loughmore fashion, their 12 scorers in the Championship, so far, just get stuff done. The McGraths, All of them, in great form. Ciaran 1-05, Liam 1-03, John 0-24, Noel 0-07, Mossie 0-04 and Brian with the solitary point, so far.

1. Kiladangan

Dismantled high-flying JK Brackens in Round 3 to top the group on 5 points. The Flynn’s, Paul 4-14 from play and Alan 0-09 from play, are in unnatural scoring form. Billy Seymour is on fire 2-31,2-11 from play. Bryan McLoughney with 2-03 and Conor Byrne with 1-06,all from play are 2 more that are catching the eye.0-37 on average per game in their first 3 games. Shock and Awe from the 2023 County Champions.

Munster Colleges Draw Sees 13 Tipp Schools in the hurling mix

It normally happens pretty quickly and when it does, you suddenly realise that the year is moving on.

The evenings shorten considerably and the chill begins to invade the concluding stages of the games which are now beginning at 6:30pm and maybe even 6:00pm, thereby making it more and more difficult for patrons to get to them.

Then, the Harty Cup draws are announced and suddenly you realise that the secondary school competitions across both codes will begin very soon – preparations are already underway and the push and pull of players between school and club takes centre stage. This is the time when management teams need to knock their heads together and manage the workload of the individual player. Consideration needs to be taken of all the demands on the player and a realistic schedule drawn up which ensures that no player is overloaded – makes sense yes? Of course it does, because it ensures that everybody gets the best of the player and the best out of the player.

To the Harty Cup draws then.

The famous Munster colleges U19 hurling competition sees defending champions Nenagh CBS in Group 4 with Midleton CBS, and St. Francis College Rochestown.

Group 2 sees Tipperary interest with Our Lady’s Templemore up against Ard Scoil Ris, Castletroy College, and Colaiste Choilm.

In Group 3 meanwhile Cashel Community College features alongside Charleville CBS, Blackwater Community School and St. Josephs Tulla .

Finally in Group 6 – Thurles CBS have St. Flannans College and Tralee CBS to contend with.

In the Corn Ui Mhuiri (Munster Colleges U19 football championship) Abbey CBS is Tipperary’s sole contender and they feature in a group with Mercy Mounthawk, Skibbereen CC and St. Patricks Castleisland.

There’s big interest in the Corn Thomáis Mhic Cholaim – U19 B Hurling competition where thirteen schools will compete for the silverware commemorating the JK Brackens stalwart. Blackwater Community School Lismore are the defending champions but they will have stiff opposition from the five Tipperary schools involved.

In Group 1, Coachford College, High School CBS Clonmel, Kinsale Community College and Colaiste an Spioraid Naomh will battle it out.

Group 2 sees Abbey CBS, CBS Secondary School, Carrick on Suir and Hamilton High School in action.

Group 3 sees Mitchelstown CBS, Scoil Pol, Kilfinane and newcomers Colaiste Mhuire, Thurles competing – Tipp minor hurling captain Cathal O’Reilly will backbone Thurles.

Meanwhile, Group 4 featuring Scariff Community College, Pobailscoil Na Trionide, Eochaill and St. Josephs College, Borrisoleigh could well be the group to see the winners emerge, but time will tell.

A total of 20 schools will take part in the Corn Risteard Uí Mhathúna – Under 19 C Hurling competition. Scoil Pól Kilfinane are the defending champions but they too will have to contend with four Tipperary schools with the draws throwing up the following combinations.

Group 1 – St. Caimins Community School, Borrisokane CC, PBC, Patrician Academy Mallow.

Group 2 – Presentation, Ballingarry, Ennistymon CS, Causeway Comprehensive School, Clonakilty CC.

Group 3 – St. Marys Newport, Ard Scoil na Mara, Tramore, Colaiste Treasa, Kanturk, Hazlewood College.

Group 4 – St. Augustines College, Salesian College, Pallaskenry, Dungarvan CBS, Colaiste an Phiarsaigh.

Group 5 – Colaiste Iosaef, Kilmallock, Scoil Mhuire agus Ide, Newcastlewest, Glanmire Community College, Scoil Ruain, Killenaule.

It can be hard to get to these games, especially in the early stages as they are mostly played during school times, mid week. But, the advent of streaming has helped considerably so keep an eye out for the fixtures in the weeks to come.

1.Rhys Shelly Moycarkey Borris

Another fine performance by the man hoping to get in between the sticks for Tipperay in 2025. Rhys added another 2 points to his tally in Round 3 to end up with 2-04 from the group stages. Vital shot stopping and precision puck outs continue to flow for Rhys. 

2. Jimmy Ryan – Clonoulty

Jimmy led Clonoulty from defense in Round 3 of the Senior Championship, when Clonoulty had to put the shoulder to the wheel to avoid another relegation dogfight and got the job done in taking care of Templederry. 

3. Denis Maher – Thurles Sarsfields

Denis has been a revelation since going back into the fullback line for Thurles Sarsfields. Another cracking performance against Roscrea. 

4. David Sweeney – Kiladangan

Everyone knows the scoring power of Kiladangan and the men who do the damage. But at the other end of the field, cool heads are needed and David is just that. David has come up against some top class forwards over the last few weeks and held firm against them all.

5. Bryan O’Mara – Hollycross/Ballycahill

Bryan was on the losing team in Round 3 but his performance was a winning one you’d feel. Bryan was trying his hardest to rally the troops from 6 and came out with some great interceptions when needed. 

6. Alan Flynn – Kiladangan

A forward scoring 5 points from play is a marker, a halfback doing it…. that’s above and beyond. But Alan knocked over 5 points in Round 3 v Jk Brackens, along with marshaling his defense in the half back line. A handful when running at the opposition half back line. 

7. Podge Campion – Drom-Inch

Podge was one of the big factors in Drom-Inch getting the win over Borris-lleigh in Round 3 to avoid the relegation battle. Podge was a powerhouse in the Drom half back line and knocked a point over the bar too. 0-05 from play, in Total for his 2024 Senior Hurling Championship campaign.

8. Noel McGrath – Loughmore Castleiney

Noel, a solid pick week in week out in our Team of the Week. The Loughmore sticksman showed his class again knocking a point over his shoulder from halfway to finish with 2 points. He dropped deep when Loughmore needed a dig out to see them over the line in Round 3 v Nenagh Eire Og.

9. Mason Cawley – Nenagh Eire Og

Mason was electric around the middle of the park for Nenagh, end to end stuff from the Nenagh Eire Og man who will be hoping to continue on his form going up against Thurles Sarsfields in the Quarter Final.. 0-03 from Play so far this Year.  

10.  Eoin McIntyre – Lorrha

Some may say Lorrha had the team performance of the round, and they wouldn’t be far wrong. Eoin netted 2 goals and the same amount of points in round 3 to get the win over Holycross/Ballycahill and do the job they had to do. Only their North neighbors,, Nenagh couldn’t do the same job and save them from relegation. 

11. Max Hackett – Moycarkey Borris

Moycarkey had big performances all over the field last weekend, but Max stood up when needed to score 2-1 and get a huge win to get Moycarkey into the knockout stages of the County Championship, a long time waiting for the Mid men. 3-05 from Play, so far.

12.  Paul Flynn – Kiladangan

Paul couldn’t let brother Alan outscore him in Round 3, so Paul upped the levels and finished with 1-08 from play against JKB which gets him to 4-14 from play in the group stages to top the scoring from play charts. 

13. Darragh Woods – Holycross/Ballycahll

Darragh did everything in his power to get Holycross over the line v Lorrha, but fell up short. The Cross man scored 2-10 with 2-05 from play in a mighty performance. 2-21 in the Senior Championship for 2024.

14. Seamie Callanan – Drom-Inch

Drom needed a few big swings to get the win over Borris-lleigh in round 3 and their marque men stood up. Seamie came away with 13 points and 5 from play and had the composure needed to get the win. Seamie sees out the Year with a 1-27 total.

15. Darragh McCarthy – Toomevara

Another fine performance in a game where half the Kilruane back line ended up marking Darragh at some stage. 1-12 for Darragh with 2 from play. Bringing his total to 1-34 from the group stages. Darragh is involved in everything good about the Toome attack at present and will be a handful going into the knockout stages.

Round 3 Tipperary Hurling Premier Intermediate Team of the Week.

1.Enda Dunphy (St Marys)

The Clonmel man is in Our Premier Intermediate Team of the Week for the Second time this year. Scorer of 3 points, he also made some important saves in the victory over Killenaule. 0-6 in Total scored in the 3 Group Games.

2.Kieran Moloney (Thurles Sarsfields)

Moloney dropped into the full back line with ease to pick up the in-form Cian O’Dwyer. He was always on top and a Man of the Match contender in their victory over Mid rivals Clonakenny. 

3.Ger Grant (Upperchurch/Drombane)

The ‘Church powered into the knockout stages with convincing win over Ballina. Their defence held the North men to a 15 point total and Grant stood firm in the pivotal full-back position. 

4.Conor Gleeson (Gortnahoe/Glengoole)

Artistic license being used here but, We couldn’t leave the county U20 panelist out. Deployed around the half back line Gleeson helped himself to an important point to add to his 0-2 Round 2 tally and repelled Moyne any way he could. 

5.Michael Cahill (Thurles Sarsfields)

The second Thurles Sars man in the line up. The Experienced Cahill was at his best sweeping across the half-back line mopping up ball and creating opportunities for the Sars. They have marched into the Quarters and Cahill has been instrumental. Vision.

6.Brian Fox (Eire Óg Annacarty)

Ageless and effective. Fox got the Clubber Man of the Match. He stood firm when Cashel were on the move. He blocked, harried, caught, hit and set up attacks for the West side and gave an interview for the ages afterwards. A must listen for all Club Players. 

7.Cian Flanagan (Newport)

Despite being on the losing side, Flanagan had a performance for the ages. 5 points from play from the wing back position to add to his 0-03 from play in Round 2. He couldn’t be faulted. 

8.Conor Deely (St. Marys)

With 0-03 scored from Play so far in the Championship, Deely has formed a very effective Midfield Partnership with Richie Gunne which has sent the Clonmel Club into the knockout stages for the 4th year in a row, Solid, Combative and a very effective Link man.

9.Euan Ryan (Boherlahan Dualla)

A powerful performance from Euan gets him his Second nod for The Premier ‘View’ Premier Intermediate Team of the Week. Busy as ever around the middle, he gave Newport something to think about every time, he got on the ball. Knows where the black spot is too,0-06 from play so this campaign.

10.Paudie Greene (Upperchurch/Drombane) 

1-03 from play for the big ‘Church forward in a commanding display of attacking talent for the Mid Men. They’re back on track now. 

11.Conor McKelvey (Silvermines)

With Jason Forde moved to the backs, McKelvey took up the scoring mantle. 1-12 for the ‘Mines Man in a tonic victory as they head for their relegation battle with Sean Treacy’s. 

12.Pa Bourke (Thurles Sars)

We couldn’t leave him out. 0-4 from play. He was the architect of all that was good with the Sars forward play. Another Tipp master to make our Premier Intermediate ToTW. 

13.Darragh Kelly (Eire Óg Annacarty)

Phenomenal. How was he not on the U20 panel in 2024 ?. Has barely put a foot wrong in the Championship (1-10 with 1-09 from Play).He seems to love playing against Cashel. 

14.Peter McGarry (St. Marys)

Mary’s overturned a ten point loss in the South Championship to a five point win in on Friday. McGarry helped himself to another 5 from play, deadly accurate that evening, Surely Liam Cahill and Co. are observing ?. 

15.Mark Downey (Boherlahan/Dualla)

Downey grabbed his third goal of the campaign which has him with 3-02 from play after 3 games and he was a constant thorn in the Newport side. Made himself available at all times and stood up when needed.

Round 3 Tipperary Hurling Intermediate Team of the Week.

1.Eoin Horgan (Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams)

The Tipperary U20 ‘keeper has added scoring to his resumé and had 3 points to his name in Cahir last Friday evening. The two in the first half were particularly important on a night where free-taking was an issue for his side. 0-04 Scored so far in the Tipperary Intermediate Hurling Championship.

2. Cathal Greene (Moneygall)

Moneygall were never in trouble but Greene showed cool & calm at the back whenever he was needed. He’s pivotal in a Moneygall back 6 and continues to get better with every game. 

3.Sean Ryan (Cappawhite)

Cappawhite kept their first cleansheet of the championship as they recorded a convincing 10 point victory to keep their season alive. Ryan was imperious at full-back, described by a Clubber commentator early in the season as very raw and not in the naïve manner, He even popped up with a score late on in the game. 

4.Adrian O’Halloran (Portroe)

Port may have lost but O’Halloran can’t be faulted. He drove up the field for two vital scores, his second to put them two up in injury time. 

5.Liam Ryan (Drom/Inch)

Liam Ryan manned the Centre for Drom in their victory over Arravale Rovers. He used all his experience in the role. The sending off put Drom under pressure and they just couldn’t win by enough to catch Portoe on score difference. Ryan stood up when they needed him most though.

6.Niall Heffernan (Golden/Kilfeacle)

Heffernan has been in great form this season since his return to defence. One of the main reasons Golden are amongst the favourites for the Intermediate Title. He marched up field for a 2nd half goal too.  

7.Brian Davis (Borrisokane)

Davis is teak tough, Borris are in the quarters after a very good victory over Kilsheelan. Davis got a vital score too to add to his Round 2 score.

8.Adam Hogan Moneygall

2-03 from play. A man on fire….

9.Sam Madden (Portroe)

Madden plays between Midfield and the half forward line. He’s the second Port man despite losing to make our Team of the Week, this Week. He contributed 3 vital scores also. A busy busy player. 

10.Adam Daly (Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams)

Daly is a really useful player for Kickhams. He can be deployed on a number of lines and also has a knack for grabbing a point.1-07 scored so far in the Championship.

11.Ben Currivan (Golden/Kilfeacle)

Currivan is vital to Golden. He’s always on the move, creating space and being a general nuisance. Four valuable first half points also, which now has Him, on a total of 0-09,all from play. The Tipp U20 captain is in fine form.

12. Sam Carmody (Cappawhite)

Completing an all West half-forward line, Sam Carmody was the Clubber man of the match on Saturday evening. Similar to Currivan, Carmody had four from play to his name and was the catalyst for a lot of the good work up front for Cappa. 0-06 from Play, so far.

13.Paddy Fogarty (Moneygall)

This could’ve been anyone of the Fogarty’s but Paddy gets the nod with Us. 1-03 to his name v Upperchurch in such a dangerous inside line for Moneygall that ran up a 5-27 total. 3-09 from play over 3 IHC Games.

14.Eamonn Hough (Shannon Rovers)

The Shannon Rovers Hero in injury time. Hough grabbed a high ball and dispatched it past Darren Gleeson for a 64th minute winner. 0-04 in Round 1, 2-05 in Round 2, 1-03 in Round 3 and all from Play. A right handful on the edge of the square and instrumental in Rovers going 3 wins from 3 and topping Group 3.

15.Óisin Larkin (Borrisokane)

A interested observer to our Podcast sent a message to say ‘Put some respeck on ‘Suck’ Larkins name’. Well here it is, young man. Larkin was phenomenal again this weekend. 2-06, 0-13 & 1-10 to his name in his 3 outings so far in the Tipperary IHC. He really is the go-to guy for Bo’kane.

North Clubs dominate drop-zone with a few surprises in store yet in Dan Breen race.

North Clubs dominate drop-zone.

A weekend of high drama on the hurling field has left the scene very clear indeed as the concluding stages of the FBD Insurance county senior hurling championship approaches.

It will be all-north division relegation battle with Borris-Ileigh, Lorrha Dorrha, Templederry and Roscrea facing the unwanted trial of the drop-zone dog fight – only Lorrha Dorrha won their final group game in the championship and this will perhaps boost their confidence. And, apart from Lorrha Dorrha, only Borris-Ileigh from the remaining teams have actually won a match in the 2024 campaign so far.

So, there can be few complaints then for the clubs involved at this end of the championship, but what an intriguing fight it will be. The divisional aspect of the last three games will greatly enhance the drama and tension – nobody wants to be in this position, but it is the clubs which embrace the scenario best who will survive.

The team which drops will have lost four or more championship games and that surely is enough indication that regrading is necessary and can actually benefit the side. It is never easy to go down; it is very hard to get back up again; but in the greater scheme of things, being competitive in whichever grade a club finds itself is better than continuing on a losing streak all the time – that benefits nobody.

At the other end it’s fairly acceptable to say that the top seeds would have been predictable enough before any ball was thrown-in. Champions Kiladangan; last year’s finalists Thurles Sarsfields; mid champions Loughmore Castleiney; and Toomevara all occupy top slots – this means that the Board is saved having to include preliminary quarter finals and therefore a weekend is spared in the heavy fixture-clogged calendar.

The Runners-up who progress are Kilruane MacDonagh, Moycarkey Borris, Nenagh Éire Óg and JK Brackens. Interestingly, the first three second seed qualifiers all lost their opening games in the round-robin, but recovered sufficiently to make it through – Nenagh Éire Óg lost the opening game and their final game, but by virtue of Lorrha Dorrha sucker punching Holycross Ballycahill with a five goal blitz, they get through on scoring difference. Who saw that one coming??

Take a look at the teams left – nobody from the west, nobody from the south – what does that say about the balance of power in the hurling stakes in Tipperary? Of course had there been a west championship at all Clonoulty Rossmore would likely be in the mix too with a preliminary quarter final – provided they won the west.

It’s the first time in many years that the Clonoulty Rossmore men will not feature in the closing stages of the championship – how fatal their injury-time capitulation in the first round against Kiladangan has proven for them. They were eight up and coasting as injury time approached and found a way to not win the game. It was a disaster for them and it has resulted in their season being unusually abrupt.

So, how will it run now?

One would think that each of the top seeds would be able for each of the runners-up, no matter how the draws work right, right? Of course not – that’s the beauty of sport. Who would have predicted that Lorrha Dorrha would have beaten Holycross Ballycahill this weekend? Not many gave Drom-Inch a chance against Borris-Ileigh, and yet the results went against the bookies form-line.

Well, expect a few more surprises along the way too. JK Brackens will be smarting at having coughed up 2-30 against Kiladagan and they will be out to prove their credentials. Nenagh Éire Óg will be trying to find consistency – this has been a difficulty for them for many campaigns, but if they can get on a run, they can be very dangerous, especially if they get to strut their stuff in Semple Stadium.

Kilruane MacDonagh – champions only two seasons ago remember – are lurking dangerously while Moycarkey Borris are in uncharted waters for the vast majority of their players – they have a free shot and they will relish it. All to play for. Bring it on.

16. Lorrha/Dorrha

Got an absolute trimming from Nenagh in the last round and the worrying thing is they offered nothing in response. Conceding 7 goals is not a good look, that and the fact that have only 4-24 scored in their 2 games so far, for an average of 0-18 a game, the lowest of all 16 Teams in the Senior Hurling Championship. Its been a sobering introduction to the Dan Breen for the 2023 Seamus O’Riain Champions. Despite this a win v a Holycross outfit who are only managing 0-19 a game, coupled with either a Nenagh win or a Nenagh/Loughmore Draw will keep them safe with a third place finish. Still something to play for.

15. Templederry

A better performance in Round 2 V Kiladangan, but the same story again as 2023,they can run up totals but are so porous at the other end. Their over reliance on Sean Ryan (3-06) is an ongoing issue although Padraig Hogan (1-09) is starting to come into form now also. They have to win against Clonoulty,Do that and their season and status will be saved, A Defeat or Draw has them headed for the Relegation Semi Finals.

14. Roscrea

The 2022 Premier Intermediate Champions and 2023 Dan Breen Quarter Finalists look to be completely out of sorts, Already confirmed to be in the Relegation Semi-Finals after just 2 Rounds, they play an already qualified Thurles Sarsfields in Round 3.Hard to draw positives anywhere but one could be they now have time to regroup and prep for a relegation dog fight, Another is that they are scoring goals and have a total of 6-32 scored so far, a total that puts them well above some of the other contenders for relegation Semi Finals places.

13. Drom-Inch

A team We didn’t expect to have here at the start of the Year, A Club on the rise at underage but struggling badly this year and nobody picking up the mantle from Seamie Callanan who has 1-14 scored from play. Will need a win v Borris-leigh in Holycross this Saturday for starters and then hope for a Toomevara win or a draw in the other game for the safety of third place. On Thin Ice.

12. Clonoulty/Rossmore

Ten up with 10 mins to go against the County Champions in Round 1,still ahead of Kiladangan on the stroke of full time and then only getting a draw has to be haunting them. They then follow that up with an unexpected hiding from the Brackens with only Jack Ryan’s 3 goals, keeping it somewhat bearable. Clonoulty need a big win v Templederry and to get going early to put pressure on Kiladangan who will be scoreboard watching at the same time in Dolla, Sunday Lunchtime. 

11. Mullinahone

Decent the first day but a much better Round 2, Where they dispatched Roscrea 1-26 to 2-20.Which guarantees them another year in Dan Breen at the very least. A Win v Moycarkey puts them into second, a loss or draw has them in 3rd.It could be a tight one, Mullinahone averaging 0-27 a game so far, Moycarkey averaging 0-26.5.

10. Nenagh Eire Og

Not to be trusted, lost to Holycross, hammered Lorrha but it’ll all be in vain if they can’t overturn Loughmore which would result in another 3rd place in the group stages for the North Tipp Town side. Jake Morris topping the scoring from play charts with 4-11, 4-12 in total, can he continue his run of form to get his side through to the knockout stages?.

9. Toomevara

Another side that have slipped from their 2023 form, possibly on the verge of going out. It just goes to show the absolute cut throat nature of Group 1. Toome need to beat Kilruane this weekend and hope for a Drom win which would have them 2nd. Not an easy task against a revitalised Kilruane. The loss to Borris in Round 1 still hurts. Scoring Prodigy Darragh McCarthy with 0-22 so far.

8. Borrisoleigh

We don’t know whether Borris will qualify for the knockout stages,but they are giving their supporters bang for their buck. Beat rivals Toome in Round 1 and lost to rivals Kilruane in Round 2 by the minimum in a somewhat controversial fashion. Drom could beat them and put them in relegation but if they win they could finish top. Huge 2 games in group 1 this weekend.

7. Holycross/Ballycahill

Beat Nenagh in Round 1 before losing to Loughmore in Round 2. Holycross didn’t get into their rhythm as We saw vs Nenagh, when they played Loughmore. A bounce back is needed big time. The Cross lads should have too much for a wounded Lorrha in Round 3.0-19 per Game has them second from bottom on the overall attack charts though, an improvement needed if they want to go deep in Dan Breen Knockouts.

6. Moycarkey/Borris

A stellar Mid campaign followed up by a dismantling of Roscrea in Round 1. Caught badly by Thurles Sarsfields early doors in Round 2 but should have too much for Mullinahone in Round 3 and qualify in Second.5-38 on the doors so far with the 2 Shelly’s contributing from both ends of the pitch, Rhys with 2-02 and Kyle with 2-12,2-03 from play

5. Kilruane McDonaghs

We didn’t see this coming. 2022 County Champions, Relegation contenders in ’23, they have bounced back spectacularly in 2024. Two wins against Drom/Inch and Borris-ileigh no less. Toomevara this Weekend in Round 3 will give a better understanding of where they are. Willie Cleary is in brilliant form with 0-21 scored, but the supporting cast are now starting to chip in,Thomas Cleary with 1-05,Cian D’arcy with 1-03.

4. JK Brackens

Well, well, well, in other things, We didn’t see coming, who’d have thought the Templemore side would be this high up considering the position they found themselves in last year. An Absolute Transformation. They’ve come out all guns blazing this campaign and the Scoreboard is getting a hammering. JKB top the scoring charts with 8-52 after 2 rounds, that’s a scarcely believable 0-38 a game!!. Jamie Ormonde 1-10 from play and Lyndon Fairbrother with 3-19,3-04 from play have their radars on, can they keep it up?

3. Thurles Sarsfields

The Big Dog moves into position with a minimum of fuss. Already Qualified after 2 Rounds, the only Outfit in Dan Breen to do so and moving along nicely. Would’ve expected last year’s beaten finalists to be in this position. Their County men are showing strong with Ronan in defense and Conor Stakelum leading the charge in attack with 1-08 from play after 2 rounds, Aidan McCormack metronome like with 0-21. Averaging 0-29 a game currently, What gear are they in ?

2. Loughmore/Castleiney

Another mid Team in great form. Loughmore, going about their business as they always do. Loughmore had too much for Holycross in Round 2 even with some poor shooting although doubts persist about the quality of the Group they are in. The McGraths, Liam with 1-02,John with 0-15, Noel with 0-05, Mossie with 0-02 and Brian with 0-01 are the gift that keeps on giving.

1. Kiladangan

The 2023 County Champions are still No. 1. Scoring at will,8-51 Racked up already or 37.5 Points a game , Billy Seymour in flying form and tops the Senior scoring charts with 2-23 after 2 Rounds,2-07 from play. Willie Connors at wing back and the Flynn’s, Paul in particular with 3-06 from play leading the charge. Their Round 3 game v JK Brackens in Dolla this Sunday could see all sorts of scoring records being broken. Is there anyone to stop them?

16. Newport

Will need a win over Boherlahan and a Clonakenny v Sars draw or a Win v Boherlahan coupled with a Clonakenny win to see them safely into third spot in Group 3 and out of relegation trouble. Nothing is pointing towards that. In big trouble. 16 scores in both games isn’t good enough. Joint second lowest in the Division with 3-29 scored.

No Change.

15. Sean Treacys

Gave a good account of themselves for 30 mins but you can’t play that badly in the 2nd half and expect anything especially against a Killenaule crew when they have the bit between their teeth. Burgess up next in Round 3 with the North Men needing to win to be sure of at least a 2nd Place in the Group. Another hard afternoon in store. Rumours of lads leaving to go travelling after the Group Games can’t be doing much for morale either

Down 1.

14. Moyne/Templetouhy

Were better in Round 2 and had Cashel on the ropes for a while. We expect them to improve again in Round 3 but don’t see where they have the firepower to get over Gortnahoe,Defeat to Gortnahoe sees them bottom and headed for the relegation Semi Finals.0-44 Scored so far, One of only 2 Clubs out of 16 in the Division with no Goal Scored, Gearoid O’Connor with nearly half of their scores 0-21.Frustratingly yet again, less than the sum of their Parts.

13. Silvermines

Already in a Relegation Semi Final, Regardless of  the result v the Swan, The Continued Good health of Jason Forde the current Top Scorer in the Premier Intermediate Division with 0-24 is vital to them staying at this grade.1-35 scored over the first 2 Rounds and 2nd Worst Attack just ahead of Treacy’s is relegation Final form.

No Change.

12. Ballina

As expected struggled in Round 2 going down to the Swan 3-19 to 1-18. A win v Upperchurch sees them second and out the gap in the Group, a draw or loss sees them in third but safe. Stephen O’Brien has been a loss so will need him and Eoghan Power maybe carrying a knock too. The scoring form of David Kelly (2-04) Jack Collins (0-10) and Mikey Breen (0-08) vital to their chances of progressing.

No Change.

11.Clonakenny

We have them staying in 11th spot. Can still qualify though. Best Case Scenario, which has them topping the Group is a win v Sars and a Newport win or a Clonakenny win and a Boherlahan v Newport draw. Will need a big performance to topple Thurles Sarsfields though. Haven’t been playing well, but there’s always at least one massive performance in them every year, Could it come this Saturday in Holycross at 2 Pm ?.Cian O’Dwyer with the scoring performance of Round 2 with 1-16.

No Change.

10. Boherlahan/Dualla

The 2023 Intermediate Champions struggled at times v the beaten 2023 Premier Intermediate finalists in Thurles Sarsfields,it finished 0-24 to 0-18. Have a very winnable game v Newport in Round 3 though, Win that coupled with a Sars win sees them into second. Tossy Ryan their main scoring threat with 0-17 ran up so far.

9. Cashel King Cormacs

See Killenaule in the our last Power Ranking. Controversial ? -Yes, Cashel Consistent or Trustworthy – No. Cashel will need to beat Eire Og in Round 3 to repair their reputation. Beating a struggling Moyne 3-19 to 0-19 won’t do that, they needed 2nd half goals to get over the line in that game and they will missing some key players for the tie with Eire Óg. Have the safety net of the preliminary Quarter Final though.

8. Killenaule

An expected victory although they were behind at the break. A super 3rd quarter saw them into a commanding lead in their Round 2 win over Sean Treacy’s .The O’Dwyers (Joe with 1-15,Podge with 1-03 and John with 0-03) are firing as is their whole attack, Top of the division with 5-44 scored or close on 0-30 a game, Top for green flags too with 5, Their game v fellow South Men, St Mary’s in Fethard Friday night promises to be a cracker, it should turn into a winner takes top spot contest.

7. Burgess

Yo-yo, yo-yo. A super Round 1 Win followed by a very disappointing Round 2 loss and a key suspension. 2-12 won’t win many games at this level. Now they have Sean Treacy’s in Round 3 and scoring difference could be vital here too. A Mary’s win and a Burgess Win or Draw though has them second. Stephen Murray with 0-19 on the boards so far doing the business, as always.

6. St. Mary’s Clonmel

Another team who go into Round 3 with two wins from two, but still need something to qualify out of Group 4. Their first two wins have been impressive so they’re on the move. Killenaule will be a nice test. Sean Kennedy is their main man at the minute with 0-17 in the bag.

5. Gortnahoe/Glengoole

A gut-wrenching loss in Round 2 to Eire Og Annacarthy by 1, 2-18 to 2-17. Moyne next up in Round 3 in a game which We see them winning comfortably enough. Keane Hayes was a points scoring machine for them last Year, he is branching out this year into the goal scoring department with 2 so far,2-16 in total.

4. Thurles Sarsfields

Last years beaten Premier Intermediate Finalists are 2 wins from 2, but with no great fanfare. Shame on us for having them so low. Now they still need something in Round 3 against Clonakenny, who always give them trouble. No goals so far but a grand total of 0-51 which has them sitting second in the best attack category.

3. Eire Óg Annacarty

Seanie Ryan with a last attack goal to beat Gortnahoe by a solitary point. An ageless Conor O’Brien pulling strings as per usual. Darragh Mooney, the Premier Intermediate version of Brendan Cummins with 0-05 so far to his name. Motoring nicely

2.Upperchurch/Drombane

Had a very easy win in Round 2 where they consigned Silvermines to relegation and had Aaron Ryan (0-05 from play on the day) in great form. Facing Ballina in Toomevara this coming Sunday but even if they are turned over which is unlikely, they are still in the hunt with a prelim as Mid Divisional Winners. Won’t want to use it though.

1.Carrick Swan

An expected victory, if somewhat scrappy 5 point win over Ballina in Round 2 has top spot in the group already secured. Have Silvermines in Round 3 and should continue their form into the Quarters. Young Callum Lanigan continues to impress with 1-05 from Play,1-13 in Total.

16. Upperchurch/ Drombane 

We thought We were going have to send humble pie to the ‘church at half time in Round 2. But alas, no and a 2nd half collapse sees them into the relegation battle. A tough assignment in Round 3, It’s only Moneygall. Like Skeheen, looks like they are getting ready for a relegation tilt.

15. Arravale Rovers

Lost again and reliant far too heavily on Sean O’Mahony (0-22 so far)again. Only in his 1st year at this level. Can still save a relegation fight with a win over Drom but hard to see it bar something drastically changes.

14. Skeheenarinky 

In relegation bother now and them conceding their Round 3 clash v an unbeaten Ballingarry confirms that. Based on previous years you’d say they have too much to go down but, that never holds much water either. Tomás Vaughan, current Intermediate Championship Top Scorer with 4-16 in total is doing everything in his power to save their season. Won’t want to pick up injuries or suspensions before the incoming relegation battle

13. Cappawhite

Whats going on here ?. Lost to Ballybacon for the 2nd time in 4 years and possibly now in relegation trouble after a good 2023. The lowest scoring team in all 3 grades in the County with just 0-30 scored after the first 2 Rounds and no goals scored, the only attack not to raise a green flag in the Intermediate Division. The writing was on the wall with the West Final display, it’s in bold print now. Will need a huge turnaround but it looks like Willie Barry with slightly over a third of their scores, scored, will have to do the heavy lifting for them.

12. Ballybacon/Grange

Did we think they would get the win to stay up. Yes! Did we think it would be in round 2. Hell No!!!!. Fair play to Ballybacon, another Year with a win under their belts. Maybe we are being harsh on them, having them in 12th position, when they can actually still top the group and guarantee themselves, a Quarter Final spot. But they can also still finish 4th, if Round 3 Results go against them. Brendan Cummins on the score sheet again. Just the 1-07 for the Tipperary u20 Manager, now after 2 Games whilst playing Goals. Remarkable

11. Carrick Davins

Now We were dodgy on this one. They got the win in Round 2 over Upperchurch , but only barely and only had 1 goal on the scoresheet at half time. A Pa Harris inspired comeback (3-02 from Play) got them over the line and they will have some confidence going into the Kickhams game now. Also they are safe from any relegation threat unlike the teams below them.

10.  Kilsheelan/Kilcash

A second loss to Ballingarry means Kilsheelan will need a positive result against a resurgent Borrisokane to qualify. Down, the again suspended, Mark Kehoe won’t help matters. Needed the prelim last year but don’t have that luxury this year.

9. Drom/Inch 

Drom lost in Round 2 and will need a win and results elsewhere to have a chance of automatic qualification at this point. Of course it all may work out in their favour, but they also have the Prelim Quarter Final, get out of the Group Card in their backpocket and an inspired Aidan O’Mara, with 1-09 already in their ranks.

8. Clonoulty/Rossmore

A move despite losing doesn’t normally happen but results elsewhere in the group now mean they are favourites to qualify second. Clonoulty should’ve got something out of the Golden Game. They are maybe finding their feet at this level.

7. Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams

Stay the same despite an expected loss, but lets face it, We don’t see anyone beating Moneygall, at least not before the knockout stages. Kickhams performed admirably and a result in round 3 will see them qualify. Stephen Browne seems to be finding form at the right time. 6-39 Scored over the first 2 Games, Second behind Moneygall on that table, shows their attack as a whole in the groove.

6. Borrisokane

Yo-Yo’ing a little in the power rankings. A big win over Skeheenarinky means they are back in contention for qualification. Have a Mark Kehoe less Kilsheelan in Round 3. And an in-form Oisin Larkin (2-19 so far) in their own ranks.

5. Shannon Rovers 

Backed up their Round 1 victory with a 2nd one over perennial Quarter finalists, Drom/Inch. Eamonn Hough and Conal Moran in brilliant form, Hough currently second, in our from Play scorers Chart with 2-09 mined, Moran in 8th place on the Top Scorers List with 0-18 . Have a serious chance at top spot now in Round 3, but they only have the No. 4 team in our Power Rankings, to contend with. A Cinderella story incoming for the North men? They’re going about it the right way.

4. Portroe 

If Round 1 belonged to John Sheedy with an outstanding 0-19 tally ,the returning AJ Willis stole the show for Port in Round 2. 0-5 from play following his exploits in New York. No administration errors this year, Willis is back, Portroe are starting to purr.

3. Golden/Kilfeacle

Golden won in Round 2, so why have We dropped them 2 places in the Power Rankings ?. Well they were a Daithi Bargary body shot away from a draw with Clonoulty/Rossmore in a very lacklustre performance. Yet good teams always find a way to win and Golden are back in the Quarters with a Round to spare. Jack Leamy with 0-23 of their 2-35 Total. Tightest Defence in the Championship

2. Ballingarry

Still unbeaten in 2024. Dylan Walsh (2-06 from play,2-17 in Total) getting much needed help from Conor Vaughan (1-07 from play) in particular. These lads are qualified top and Round 3 Results anywhere else can’t stop them. Beat Kilsheelan for the 2nd time this year. Hard to see what 2nd placed team will beat them in the first knockout round. Beat Moneygall in the league also, Maybe should be top.  ON FIRE

1. Moneygall

In fairness, We were being very harsh on Moneygall not having them at 1 in the last Power Rankings. However with the nature of the victory over  Kickhams, We had to move them into Pole Position. Sean Kenneally on form (3-11 from Play) and Joe Fogarty back in business. Paddy Fogarty amongst the goals with 2-06 from Play. Rampant in attack with 6-48 scored, the best forward line currently in the Division, Just the 1-38 coughed up in Defence.
