Premier Intermediate Semi Finals and Crunch Relegation Final, We review the chances of the 6 Teams left with something to play for in the 2024 Seamus O’Riain.
16. Sean Treacys
Ahead of their relegation Final versus Newport this coming Sunday, One Key fact to keep in mind, both themselves and Newport are both scoring an average total of 18.75 per game. Gave the Silvermines something to think about in the 2nd half though. The performance of Pat Deegan with 1-12 from play so far this Year, will be key to their survival.
No Change.
15. Newport
Gave themselves too much to do after the opening half in their Relegation Semi-Final defeat to Moyne Templetuohy. Fought back gamely but never got close enough and went down eventually on a score line of 1-18 to 1-23.Pa Ryan has been their scoring Talisman all Year with a tally of 1-34. Tied together with their Relegation Final opponents on average scoring per game 18.75, there’s a slight difference in what both clubs are conceding, Newport a 25 point average total per game, Treacy’s a 27.25 total.
Could a slightly better Goal scoring return over the 4 games so far, swing it for Newport, 4 scored v Treacy’s 2 ?.Damned if We can separate them. Every chance of Extra Time and possibly Penalties to sort it on Sunday.

No Change.
14. Moyne/Templetouhy
Best performance of the Year for a Team that really shouldn’t be where they found themselves this Year. Another 15 points for Gearoid O’Connor, 0-51 of a 2024 tally with 0-15 of them from play and who currently tops the Premier Intermediate Scoring Charts. An improvement needed from the supporting scoring cast is needed if they are to find their feet early next Year, second highest Moyne Scorer in Conor Bowe with 0-07 in total, all from play.

No Change.
13. Silvermines
Got the win they needed over Treacy’s. Finished the season with two wins on the trot. Second Year in a row of them being in the Relegation mire but they do have cavalry coming in the shape of a good few very decent young hurlers. The switch of Jason Forde to the backs seems to have re-awakened them, couldn’t have been done it though without having the scoring ability of Conor McKelvey, who sees out 2024 with 2-24 to his name, 2-09 from play.
No Change.
12.Killenaule
Finished Third in their Premier Intermediate Group, No Change
11. Ballina
Finished Third in their Premier Intermediate Group, No Change
10. Clonakenny
Finished Third in their Premier Intermediate Group, No Change
9. Boherlahan/Dualla
Finished Second in their Premier Intermediate Group, Beaten by Cashel in a Preliminary Quarter Final,No Change
8. St Mary’s
Very disappointing following the 3 great Group games they played. Very lackluster and naïve at the back in such a critical Quarter Final game versus Gortnahoe Glengoole, a 3 minute collapse which saw 3 goals conceded around the 10th minute mark left them reeling and Us scratching our collective heads as they had been excellent in the Premier Intermediate Championship up until that point. Joint Bottom with the 2 Relegation Finalist averaging a score total of 18.75 per game is something they will have to address over the Winter though.
Down 3.
7. Thurles Sarsfields
Like Mary’s above them another Quarter Final Performance, We didn’t see coming, Last Years Premier Intermediate Finalists who only narrowly went down to Lorrha after a replay never raised a gallop versus Cashel. Losing players of the quality of both Pa Bourke and Liam McCormack to the Senior set up was bound to have an impact on their second team.
Down 4.
6. Burgess
They will be massively disappointed with their Quarter Final performance and only two scorers (Stephen Murray with 1-11 and Donagh Maher with 0-01 from Play) in their 1-21 to 1-12 defeat to the Swan says a lot. Stephen Murray sees out the 2024 Championship with a personal tally of 2-39,2-10 of it from play.
Up 1.
5. Eire Óg Annacarty
Topped their group and probably drew the second seed short straw in the Quarter Final when Upperchurch were drawn against them. Pushed them to the pin of their collars in a 3-13 to 0-16 defeat but left themselves too much to do after a poor opening half defensively. Another Year of Premier Intermediate Hurling beckons in 2025 for a Club that were hurling Senior in 2022.Their concession of 9 Goals second only to Sean Treacy’s who let in 10, is something they will need to look at.
Down 3.
4. Gortnahoe/Glengoole
Dismantled St. Marys. It wasn’t even a contest. They have had the Indian sign over the Clonmel side, the last few years however. They are scrappy and will relish the Carrick Swan Semi Final. Keane Hayes as always, their scoring lynchpin with a tally already of 2-34, 2-12 of it from play, the Swan defence will also need to keep a beady eye on Darragh Maher with 2-07 from play. Joint Second best attack with an average score total of 24.25 ,Third best defence with an average of 19.75 conceded.
Up 2.
3. Upperchurch/Drombane
Needed first half goals to get over Annacarty in their Premier Intermediate Quarter Final. By no means a good performance from a Seamus O’Riain contender but, they still got there. Will need a huge improvement to topple Cashel, if Cashel reproduce their Quarter Final Form. Top of the Table when it comes to defending, only conceding an average total of 17.25 per game. Second best attack behind Cashel with an average of 24.25 being ran up every game. A Goal Hungry attack with 9 green flags raised so far second only to, You guessed it, Cashel with 10.The Twin Pronged P attack doing a lot of damage from play, Paudie Greene with 2-07 and Pat Ryan with 3-04.
Down 2.

2. Carrick Swan
They’ve beaten Upperchurch already. They were qualified out of their group after two rounds and dealt with the Burgess game with ease. 16 scorers so far from play, Young Callum Lanigan with 1-23,Aaron Dunne 1-12,1-10 from play and Aaron O’Halloran with 2-05, three of their standout scoring forwards. We suspect there’s a good bit more in them, Gortnahoe/Glengoole will surely bring it out of them.
Up 3.
1. Cashel King Cormacs
A huge leap of faith from Us on the Podcast in placing the King Cormac’s so high, all of a sudden. Their best performance in many a Year, dismantling last years County Finalists. Could their on paper potential finally be translating itself onto the Field ?,Ross Bonnar an absolute menace with 3-15 scored from play already, Devon Ryan with 2-07 out of a 2-30 personal total. Eoghan Connolly with 1-20. Rampant in attack with 10-104 scored. The Best attack meets the Best Defence, this coming Saturday at 3pm in Semple Stadium.
