Thrills and a few spills a plenty in Round 1 of the Premier Intermediate Championship.
A favourite in trouble at half time, but a power packed 2nd half, had the Swan back where they were supposed be.
Templederry found out the hard way that it’s not easy to just go straight back up, while Killenaule backed up their South win over Mary’s with an even more emphatic one in the County Championship.
Boherlahan didn’t have it all their own way against the ‘mines on or off the field while Treacys were spirited as always.

16. Sean Treacys – Stay in the bottom spot despite a spirited display against Sars ‘B’. The West side led for periods but injuries to key men scuppered any chance of an upset. Round 2 may see them on the move or seal their fate. No Change
15. Clonakenny – At half time a major upset was on the cards. Clonakenny led and had the Swan in all sorts of trouble. However they could never get going in the 2nd period. Cian O’Dwyer (0-07 from frees and 0-05 from play) was back and he is so needed. Down 2
14. Silvermines – On the move despite a loss. Despite playing second fiddle for the majority of the game the mines nearly snatched a draw at the end. Jason Forde was everywhere and was scorer in chief (1-11). If they stay up, Forde’s genius will have to be on show every day. Up 1
13. Moyne/Templetouhy – A much improved performance from the Mid Final saw a 19 point deficit turned into a two point deficit. A serious turnaround in 5 days. For that they deserve great credit. It’s a relegation bound decider with Treacys in Round 2 though. They’ll either move out of the bottom 4 or remain in it for another year. Up 1
12. Burgess – A 2nd rematch of a divisional final and the same result remained. Burgess lost out by four to Ballina this time and the concession of 3 goals won’t have gone down well. A second round tilt with Upperchurch means this really is a huge game for both. Down 2
11. St. Marys – The clonmel side plummet after an abysmal performance that saw them score only 11 points. Not good enough at this level considering the talent they have at their disposal. Losing Sean Kennedy prior to throw in didn’t help and he will be needed. Big game with Clonakenny incoming. Down 4
10. Moneygall – Very unlucky not to start off their Premier intermediate career with a win. The ‘church pegged them back at the death for a draw. Still a very promising result however. Could move sharply if they get another against North Champs Ballina. Up 2
9. Upperchurch/Drombane – The ‘church will be disappointed with how the year has gone so far. A chance to get things back on track this weekend but will need to take it. Another poor result and they will be under pressure. Down 6

8. Boherlahan/Dualla – Boherlahan held on while always in control and with Tossy Ryan (0-12 in Total and 0-05 from play) in serious form especially in the second half they are a force. A result against Eire Óg with seriously add to their resumé. Up 3
7. Templederry – A fair dose of the realities of Premier Intermediate hurling in Kilcommon for an outfit that were in Dan Breen in 2024. T’Derry added to a great spectacle but that counts for nothing if you don’t come away with the points. Down 3
6. Ballina – Doubled down on their North form to start the County with a win. 3-16 is decent shooting too. Josh Egan and Paddy Bradley with 1-04 apiece, Charlie King with 1-03, Steven O’Brien will be needed for further progression though. Up 3
5. Killenaule – Dismantled fellow South men St Marys and scored 1-24 to boot and defended excellently. Maybe they have found form with 12 different scorers. A South final rematch with the Swan will tell a lot this weekend. Up 1
4. Thurles Sars ‘B’ – Started well against the Treacys with a win. A sterner test next up against Gortnahoe. Sars have serious talent, Jack Lanigan with 1-05, Cillian Minogue with 1-04, Mossie McCormack 1-03. They could be a force if they lose nobody else to the higher ups. Up 1

3. Eire Óg Annacarty – A serious performance in Round 1. Tom Fox powered from the back while Aidan Griffin(1-06) and Darragh Kelly (1-07) to the fore upfront. With Brian Fox back in the mix are they a dark horse for the title. Up 5
2. Gortnahoe/Glengoole – It’s always tough when you beat the same opposition 5 days earlier by a big margin. They got the job done but a tougher test lies in store. Keane Hayes though…. No Change
1. Carrick Swan – The favourites for the title backed up the tag but only in the 2nd half. A few harsh words at half time seemed to turn things around. A South rematch with Killenaule is interesting to say the least. No Change
