Our First go at the 2025 Premier Intermediate Power Rankings, Dont be shy in pinning it to the dressing wall and/or how wrong we got it after the even lads.
- Carrick Swan – De-facto No. 1. Runner-up last year and for a long period looked like it was theirs. Backed up a solid ‘24 with a good start to 2025 and retaining the South ‘Senior’ title beating Mullinahone and Killenaule along the way.
- Gortnahoe/Glengoole – Like above have backed up 2024 form already this year. Ran away with a Mid title and expect them to be back in semi-final territory again this year looking to go one step further at the very least. A repeat of the mid final in the opening game and you’d expect them to get off the mark.
- Upperchurch/Drombane – Spent the majority of 2024 in the top 2 but came a cropper in extra time of the semi-final to Cashel. Disappointed in the Mid but maybe it’s the kick in the arse they needed. An opening day game against newly promoted Moneygall won’t be easy but, County contenders shouldn’t have any trouble.
- Templederry – A Sean Ryan inspired Templederry is a match for anyone. Eire Óg in the 1st game is tough going and could have a big bearing on the way the group fares out.
- Thurles Sars ‘B’ – Always high up at the start. Were really disappointing in a Quarter-final game against Cashel last year and will want to rectify. Caught badly in the mid this year. A good wake up call for Paudie Mahers 2nd charges heading into the weekend.
- Killenaule – Oh how we toiled with this one. Flattered to deceive last year, have had the scalp of St. Marys already this year which just about gives them the nod. Play each other again in Round 1 and with the Swan also in the group, a win is a must here.
- St. Marys – See above. We can’t separate them however we do expect Sham Kennedy and Peter McGarry to have had an easier week leading into this one.
- Eire Óg Annacarty – The West champions have Templederry in Round 1 and without the suspended Brian Fox. Topped their group last year but had a poor Quarter final loss to Upperchurch conceding goals in the 1st half. Will fancy themselves to get to at least a quarter final. A prelim in the bag also.
- Ballina – Winners of the North and have a repeat game against Burgess this Friday evening. Consistency is key here for Ballina who have also flattered to deceive. Expect them to rise higher as the campaign goes on.
- Burgess – Reached a quarter final last year but didn’t produce and will be disappointed with last weeks North final loss. But get a quick chance to rectify. Will need a performance though with the Church and Moneygall also in the group.
- Boherlahan/Dualla – Very congested around this part of the Premier Intermediate and Boherlahan could indeed have a case to be higher. Should get a Round 1 win but will have bigger tests to follow. Won the league so the form is good.
- Moneygall – Have serious firepower and now have added Eoghan Doughan to the mix too. Joe Fogarty didn’t get going in the North games but Moneygall will need him and Kenneally at their very best.
- Clonakenny – Looked very poor in the Mid. Will need to break out one unreal performance in the group. At this moment look destined for a relegation battle.
- Moyne/Templetouhy – The surprise package of the divisional campaign but then didn’t show up in the Mid final. A better showing needed in a quick turnaround. Will be targeting the Sean Treacys game.
- Silvermines – A North loss to Moneygall with 16 scores, along with the injury loss of Michael Corcoran leaves the ‘mines in a precarious position. Will need to pull a performance out of somewhere and someone else to help Jason Forde.
- Sean Treacys – Like no.14 will be targeting the Moyne game in a group that contains Thurles(5) & Gortnahoe(2). It could be a tough year for the West outfit who only managed 12 points in the West Final.
