Senior Club Hurling Team Of the Week.
1.Rhys Shelly Moycarkey Borris.
Made some vital saves for his Club as they usurped current Senior County Champions Kiladangan, the point blank one from Joe Gallagher being special. Maybe could’ve been better with ball in hand but he’s one of the main reasons his club are in the Semi-Finals.
2. Barry O’Connell – Toomevara.
Toome kept a clean sheet in their 0-26 to 0-21 Win over Jk Brackens. O’Connell had a very good outing. Managed to get on the scoresheet too.0-02 from play so far, this Campaign.
3. Denis Maher – Thurles Sarsfields
Keeps his place on the Team of the Week. Maher hits a lot of ball and defends his square well. A rock at the back for the Sars defence
4. Tom Ryan – Moycarkey/Borris.
Tom Ryan covered nearly every inch of Tom Semple’s field last Weekend. A tigerish defender but can also get forward. Got an all important goal to boot, in their momentous Quarter Final Win.
5. Josh McCarthy – Toomevara.
The Toome defence stood firm against a free scoring JK Brackens. No Goal conceded and raided forward any chance he got. McCarthy is rock solid in the half back line. 0-03 from Play so far in the 2024 Dan Breen.
6. Ronan Maher – Thurles Sarsfields.
Stood tall and getting better with every game, baffling that Nenagh decided to rain balls down on top of him. The Ronatron was a power house at 6 for Thurles. A serious spine to the Thurles team.
7. Aaron Morgan – Kilruane MacDonaghs.
The MacDonaghs might’ve come up short but Aaron was back to his best. Hit two good points and travelled well from Wing Back.0-03 from for his Senior Hurling Championship Year. Back to the form of 2022.
8. Stephen Cahill – Thurles Sarsfields.
Experience at this time of the Year counts for so much and Cahill has it in abundance. Scored 5 points from play v Nenagh, now on 0-09 from play and ran the show in the middle of the Park. Coming into Form just at the right time.
9. Kieran Cummins – Moycarkey/Borris
Cummins fired over 5 points from play in the Quarter Final. Popped up everywhere and a real power house performance against tough opposition.
10. Joe Maher – Moycarkey/Borris.
These lads will nearly make scoring 0-5 from play the standard for inclusion on our Teams of the Week. Doubles his Tally to 0-10 from play. An Exceptional performance from Joe Maher. No more to say.
11. James Devaney – Borrisoleigh.
JD looked back to the form of 2019. His goal v Lorrha and the speed he took off at was marvelous to behold. 2-05 from play for his Year’s Senior Hurling.
12. Alan Tynan – Roscrea.
Tynan filled the scoresheet v Templederry with 2-05 from play and worked tirelessly to make sure another term in Dan Breen for Roscrea in 2025,1-05 from play in Roscrea’s 3 Group Stage Games.
13. Jamie Ormond – JK Brackens.
Ormond was exceptional in defeat and nearly unmarkable for much of the first half of Brackens, Quarter Final v Toomevara. 1-22 from play in total for his Year, Brendan Cummins and the Tipperary u20 Management are on notice.
14. Darragh McCarthy – Toomevara
Described on our latest Podcast Episode as a “Generational Player”. Make scores, take scores, take hits, make hits. If you’re good enough you’re old enough and McCarthy at 19 definitely falls into that category. 2023 his final total was 2-36 in 5 games, 2024 he has 1-45 across 4 games, with at least one more game to come.
15. Liam McCormack – Thurles Sarsfields.
They’ve unearthed another gem in Thurles. 0-04 from play on his first Senior Dan Breen start and a real live wire all through. A real threat to the Nenagh defence with his step and blistering pace.
