Its back !!!
The much debated/maligned/discussed Premierview Podcast Power Rankings for the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship of 2025
- Loughmore/Castleiney – Yes they were beaten in the Mid and no we don’t care. The County Champions are there for a reason. Losing in the mid is a blessing to the Loughmore McGraths. A two week break and go back at it.
- Kildangan – Sucker punched in the quarters last year but returned to form in a what can only be described as a poor North Final. Joe Gallagher picked up his 8th North medal. Kiladangan have now 10 in total. A serious launchpad of a half back line. Doubtful we will see any slip up against Clonoulty like last year. One hell of a group though and they will need to be on their toes.
- Thurles Sarsfields – Paudie Mahers 1st crew didn’t deliver in the semi-finals last year despite going in as no.1 seeds. They will be looking to rectify that in 2025. Getting the blend right is key. Should have enough for Cashel and Mullinahone but this weekend v Nenagh will tell a lot.
- Toomevara – Back to a county final in 2024 and were very unlucky but, form has been patchy this year. Struggled against Lorrha in the North to win by a goal but lost by the same margin to Kiladangan. Need a victory over their North counterparts this Weekend.
- Moycarkey/Borris – Backed up their Dan Breen 2024 semi final appearence with a strong mid campaign. But,at the same time will be disappointed not to add the title for the first time since 1982. You’d think they will get back to the quarters where the real hurling will start.
- JK Brackens – Mid winners for the 2nd time in 2025. Are improving all the time.Andrew Ormond in the form of his life,Paddy Caddell marking and no longer sweeping, Like Moycarkey should get back to the Quarters.
- Holycross/Ballycahill -The toughest of groups with two of the top four already in it and the West Champions Clonoulty. Can Holycross young guns steal a march on their opponents ?. Of course they can. Humdingers in tow for them. Bryan O’Mara needs to get back though.
- Borris-Ileigh – A sharp rise through the ranks after relegation battles last year. But you don’t get to North finals without being a good team. Unlucky not to draw but in truth never looked like troubling Kiladangan.
- Clonoulty/Rossmore – West Champions again. How boring is that. 9 in a row. Guarantees a prelim. Will need to pull out a big performance somewhere to avoid a relegation battle though.
- Kilruane McDonaghs – Topsy turvy few years for the 2022 Dan Breen winners. Decent in the north. A knock to Craig Morgan is more precautionary than anything. Jerry Cahill looks in good form.
- Nenagh Eire Óg – Will rise from 11 and be in a Quarter final. Will be interesting how they go against Thurles this weekend. The next power ranking rise could be sharp.
- Drom/Inch – Poor v Holycross in the mid. Loughmore is a tough opener and then either Brackens or Lorrha. Will need a big performance somewhere..
- Cashel KC – Their years rests on this weekend. Win over Mullinahone and the year opens up and a crack at the big two of Thurles or Nenagh. Lose this weekend and a battle to stay out of 4th ensues.
- Mullinahone – As above. An Injury to Jack Shelly doesn’t help matters neither does an 8 point loss to Premier Intermediate Carrick Swan in the South Semi-final.
- Lorrha/Dorrha – Performed better than expected against Toome in the North Quarter and are maybe settling into Senior hurling having come up from Premier Intermediate ranks in 2023. Need a faster start than 2024 and hoping that Brackens have given the week on the sauce.
- Roscrea – Just didn’t produce in the North. Scoring 16 points and conceding a lot more. Moycarkey is a tough opener for them and then two north rivals in Borris & Kilruane. Could be a tough year. Is a return to the Premier Intermediate on the Cards for the 2022 Champions
