Jack Fallon Moycarkey Borris, a worthy recipient of 21 hurler of the year. Jack was a prodigious athlete in his early days, a talent he has used to great effect over the years. He was identified from an early age as a player of huge potential and has produced some terrific performances over the years. He has a collection of medals which is the envy of many of a club hurler.

Jack’s first medal was achieved with Two -Mile-Borris school where he was on the school team from an early age. Special thanks to Liam McCullagh who put in huge work with this bunch. Jack nearly played all his hurling in centre field where he could fully utilise his athletic ability and long-range shooting. Often Jack was man marked with two players to curb his influence. His first medal was achieved at under 12 where Moycarkey overcame Boherlahan in a terrific county final. Boherlahan had beaten them in the mid final after a replay. Jack gave a commanding performance in the final, dominating the mid field.

Jack was selected to represent mid and county at under 14 and continued to develop his array of skills. Moycarkey again reached the county 14 final and overcame a talented Cappawhite. During that year Moycarkey also won the Peil and Feile. Jack captained the Feile team to victory. What is sometimes forgotten is Jacks prowess as a footballer with the ability to kick with both feet. It was in the 16-county final against Toomevara that Jack showed everyone his talent. Captaining the side he gave a masterclass of midfield play, scoring from all angles.

Jack graduated on the senior team at 18 and had a terrific first year for one so young. Jack picked up a number of injuries which halted his progress but this year has seen him return to his best. He has cemented his place on the senior team and has been superb for the 21s this year with his long-range shooting has been a standout. The highlight of the 21 campaign was his terrific performance against Drom & Indch in the mid final where he scored 5 sublime points. We look forward to seeing Jack in his club colours and the Blue and Gold over the coming years and fulfilling his huge potential.
